The Government will apply for a foot and mouth disease (FMD)-free certification to the World Organization for Animal Health.

The application targets removing several parts of Luzon from the list of areas with FMD.

In April, the country failed to regain the FMD-free status in Luzon given the use of FMD vaccines in some areas, despite no cases of FMD were recorded since Dec. 2005.
