The Philippine Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and the FAO recently inaugurated the renovated Ebola Diagnostic Laboratory at BAI's Philippine Animal Health Centre.

The upgraded laboratory now has the capacity to conduct antigen and antibody detection of the Ebola Reston virus, and will provide vital support in the quick diagnosis, surveillance and monitoring of the virus in the field. It will also help establish the prevalence of the virus in pigs and help to better understand its animal-human-wildlife interface.
