Philippines: Minimum Access Volume meat import allocation nearly used up

The Philippine Department of Agriculture has allocated nearly all of its Minimum Access Volume (MAV) for pork and chicken imports for 2012.

For 2012, the MAV quota for pork imports stands at 54,210 tonnes. Of this, the MAV Management Committee has allocated 52,184 tonnes to 101 firms. Pork imports falling within the MAV are levied a 30% tariff while the out-quota tariff is 40%.
