The Peruvian government, through the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), announced an ambitious trade liberalization agenda that will allow Peruvian agricultural and livestock products to enter 16 new international markets between October 2025 and June 2026.
The plan, led by the National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA), consolidates the sustained growth of Peruvian agricultural exports and reinforces the country's position as a global agri-food powerhouse.

Among the phytosanitary and animal health accesses currently in process are: pomegranates and fresh bananas to China, fresh avocados to the Philippines, blueberries to the Dominican Republic, bananas to Argentina, onions to Ecuador, poultry meat to China, and pork to Indonesia, marking a milestone for the national livestock sector.
Peru is currently one of the world's top 10 food suppliers, with annual sales exceeding USD 12 billion, particularly in the production and global export of grapes, blueberries, avocados, mangoes, bananas, and coffee.
As part of the strategy, SENASA recently held a bilateral meeting with the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) of the Philippines to advance the entry of fresh avocados, and a technical visit by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) is planned to strengthen sanitary cooperation and expedite the opening of new agricultural products in both markets.
With these efforts, MIDAGRI reaffirms its commitment to the competitiveness of Peruvian agriculture as part of a comprehensive strategy to diversify markets and promote sustainable and inclusive growth in the agri-food sector.
