Netherlands: decline in pork exports

Dutch exports of fresh and frozen pork during the first nine months of 2013, with a total of around 528,000 t exported, have decreased by approximately 7%.

According to the German meat association (VDF), Dutch exports of fresh and frozen pork during the first nine months of 2013, with a total of around 528,000 t exported, have decreased by approximately 7%.

Exports to Italy, the main destination of Dutch pork meat with 17% of total exports, declined by 6%, while those to Germany, with 16% of the total quota, were 16% lower. Exports to the UK were down by more than 14%. Deliveries to Greece, the third largest customer, were stable at 70,500 t. In contrast, exports to third countries increased by 2% (2,000 tonnes) reaching 99,000 t. The decrease in shipments to South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, were offset by increased exports to Russia.
