Brazil: Minas Gerais' initial grain harvest for 2023/2024 should reach 13.6 million tons

This estimate is based on a study by Emater-MG, which also predicts an increase in the planted area.

The Minas Gerais grain harvest for the 2023/2024 season could reach 13.69 million tons, with a cultivated area of 3.25 million hectares. This data comes from the First Survey of the 2023/2024 Grain and Coffee Harvest conducted by Emater-MG. Although there has been a 2.75% increase in cultivated area, the company estimates that there will be a slight drop (-5.45%) in production compared to the 2022/2023 harvest, which was around 14.4 million tons.

The first corn crop is expected to reach 5.26 million tons in Minas Gerais. According to data analyzed so far, the estimated average yield is 6,700 kg of grain per hectare. The crop saw a 26% reduction in planted area, from 826,000 hectares in the 2022/2023 harvest to 784,000 hectares in the 2023/2024 harvest.

For soybeans, the estimated average yield is 3,496 kg per hectare, with 2.1 million hectares planted, and total production estimated at 8.07 million tons.
