With a production of 2.8 million tonnes of eggs, 3.2 million tonnes of fowl and 1.9 million tonnes of beef, Mexico becomes established in the seventh place, at a world level, regarding animal protein production, as highlighted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).

Placed as the eleventh agrifood producer and the tenth agrifood exporter, the public policies and the programmes of the Government of the Republic regarding this matter had an impact on the fact that Mexico holds the fourth place as honey exporter, with a volume of 28,000 tonnes, as well as regarding the commercialisation of almost 200,000 tonnes of beef and 128,000 tonnes of pork.

The stockbreeding activity, that is carried out on 109,8 million hectares (more than half of the national territory) allows the production of 6.7 million of tonnes of meat (fowl, beef, pork, goat and lamb) per year, with an export value that reaches USD3,537 million per year.
