To comply, more than 2,500 agronomists, veterinarians, and biologists are on duty 24 hours a day at the country's entry points to check tourists' luggage.

The Ministry of Agriculture's sanitary inspection officers are supported by more than 90 trained dogs, which are capable of checking 100 suitcases in 10 minutes.

In addition, due to the high risk to national livestock and aquaculture production, bringing foods of animal origin into the country is prohibited such as fresh meat of any species, garments with animal remains, fresh cheeses, sausages, poultry meat and eggs, as well as crustaceans, fish and turtles, among others.

Worldwide, there have been outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza and African swine fever (ASF) in both wild species and farm animals, so the Ministry of Agriculture stresses that travelers should cooperate with the sanitary authorities and avoid introducing products derived from poultry and pigs.
