On May 20, 2026, the Mexican government formalized the "Fair Price" System for the Organization of Production and Marketing of White Corn, a contract farming mechanism designed to stabilize the price of the grain, guarantee national self-sufficiency, and protect small and medium-sized producers. The signing ceremony was led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, along with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and the Ministry of Finance.
The system operates on three components. The first is forward marketing through contracts, with marketing basis references agreed between producers and buyers. The second is the direct sale of inputs (seeds, agrochemicals, and fertilizers) at fair prices by sector suppliers. The third is a protection mechanism against climatic, phytosanitary, and market contingencies to guarantee the financial viability of farmers.

The program involves 61,000 producers from Campeche, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Michoacán, Querétaro, Sinaloa, and Tlaxcala, who will produce 7 million tons of white corn across 705,000 hectares. These producers are joined by more than 80 companies grouped under AMSAC, PROCCYT, SEMUAC, and UMFFAAC, representing 80% of the sector's suppliers in Mexico. Registration for participants will open on May 25, 2026, for the 2026 Spring-Summer and 2026-2027 Autumn-Winter seasons.
