Mexico: incentives for high-quality pork production

The Mexican government doubled this year the PROPOR's resources set aside for pig production, going from 75 million pesos in 2014 to 150 million pesos.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) has doubled the aids set aside for the national pig production, now that more markets have been opened in Asia and US, since Mexican pork producers have high quality and harmlessness standards.

The Mexican government doubled this year the PROPOR's resources set aside for pig production, going from 75 million pesos in 2014 to 150 million pesos, according to the Livestock general coordinator, Mr. Francisco Gurría Treviño.

Mr. Gurría Treviño pointed out that in 2014, the exports of processed and packaged pork entailed some USD500 million.
