The Minister of Agriculture of Chile, Mr. Carlos Furche, together with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food of Mexico, Mr. José Eduardo Calzada, signed an agreement protocol that will allow to start the work to materialise the electronic certification (E-Cert) with Mexico.

Currently, the Chilean pig sector has the animal health E-Cert with China and Russia (Chile became the first country in America and the second in the world, after New Zealand, to implement the electronic certification with Russia), but it is also working to expand its use with its main trading partners, Japan and South Korea among them.

Mexico Chile e-cert

The consolidation of Chile as a leader in electronic certification has been achieved thanks to the public-private work developed by the Agriculture and Livestock Service (Servicio Agrícola y Ganadero, SAG), and the pig industry, represented by the ASPROCER, that not only participates in the trade missions in which this matter is tackled and negotiated, but that also collaborates actively with the authorities for the implementation of the system in Chile.

Among the benefits provided by the E-Cert we have the reinforcement of the safety and the confidence between the governments in terms of the commercialisation of food and forest, agriculture and livestock products, because it avoids the falsification of certificates, it reduces the importation time and it lessens the problems generated by the temporary withholding of the shipment at the destination port.
