Korea opens its market to Mexican meat

The National Health, Food Safety and Food Quality Service (SENASICA) of Mexico announced that the government of Korea has authorized 6 Mexican Federal Inspection Type (TIF) plants to export beef and pork to their nation, a move that strengthens the presence of Mexican food products on the Asian continent.

The chief director of SENASICA –part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA)-, Enrique Sánchez Cruz, stressed the strong collaboration achieved between Mexican and Korean health authorities, and highlighted Koreas willingness to inspect Mexican plants, with the objective of increasing the trade of meats between both countries.
Among the TIF establishments authorized by Korea to export meat, on in Jalisco that is dedicated to the slaughter and processing of pork stands out; it is the first plant to have been approved in the state, which recognizes the current health status of the entity as free of Swine Fever and other diseases.
It is worth mentioning that throughout 2010, coinciding with data from SENASICA, exports of frozen pork meat from Mexico to Korea reached a value of over 16 million dollars, and frozen beef, over six million dollars.
