Kazakhstan is re-introducing imports of Belgian pork. The ban was a result of the outbreak of African swine fever in wild boar in the province of Luxembourg in 2018. The ban still applies for the affected province. Earlier, India, Vietnam and Singapore, among other countries, decided to lift the import ban. Twenty other countries, including China, are holding onto an embargo.

The government is continuing to negotiate with Beijing to reopen the Chinese market as it is an important buyer of pig ears and snout, which are harder to market to other countries.
