In a follow-up report submitted to the OIE, Japan notifies 86 foot and mouth disease outbreaks of serotype O occurred in the Miyazaki region.

On 22 May 2010, emergency vaccination against FMD of all domestic susceptible animals kept in unaffected farms in movement control areas established within 10km around each affected farm, was started. As of 25 May, the total number of vaccinated animals was approximately 120, 000, which is about 95 percent of the targets.
