This project, presented at the 72nd Farming Exhibition held in Cremona, will allow to have immediate and direct information regarding the aspects related to handling, health records, biosecurity and animal welfare to study, in greater detail, the use of veterinary drugs. This will allow the relevant authorities to evaluate the policies and/or implement the measures needed to reduce the use of veterinary drugs.

With the aim of reducing and rationalising the consumption of antibiotics, the Ministry has prepared a project developed by the Zooprophylactic Institute of Brescia, at the University of Parma, and in the region of Lombardy, with a group of 50 farms. The project has allowed the creation of a model for the collection of operational data that, from this group of pig farms, will allow its expansion to all the supply chain. The data gathered are already an accurate observation point regarding the criteria of health hazards based on biosecurity, animal welfare and the consumption of drugs.
