Increase in pig production in China

During the first trimester of 2018, pork production has grown by 2.1%.

According to the latest data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, during the first trimester of 2018, the production of pork, beef, lamb and fowl reached 23.16 million tonnes, this entailing a year-on-year growth by 1.8%.

In particular, pork production reached 15.43 million tonnes: an increase by 2.1%, whilst the pig census reached 415.23 million heads: a year-to-year drop by 1.2%; and the number of slaughtered pigs was 199.83 million: a year-to-year growth by 1.9%.

04-May-2018 wtolesthe number of slaughtered pigs in China in 2017 is incorrect. the right number should be in excess of 700 million.
