The number of porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) outbreaks is increasing in The Netherlands. Since last November 2017, eight outbreaks have been detected, two of them in January 2018. In 2017, the “Gezondheidsdienst voor Dieren” (Animal Health Service, GD) assessed a total of 58 companies for PED.

The GD is working on the comparison of PEDV strains that are circulating in The Netherlands with those found in other countries.
