The confirmed cases of African swine fever in three animals from a herd in Dorgali are attributable to genotype 2.
"The result of the tests of the samples confirms the suspicions initially raised. It is therefore an 'imported' infection and investigations are currently underway to understand exactly what dynamics gave rise to the outbreak on the farm," according to Regional Health Councillor Carlo Doria.
Also according to the councilor, this positive finding does not impact the path undertaken with Europe for the total liberalization of Sardinia, precisely because the genotype is not the one previously present in Sardinia.
