After several years of preparation and grants from the German government, the Deutsche Raiffeisen Verband (DRV), in collaboration with various German producers’ associations, will soon be launching a certification system for piglets. This certification system is a transparent counterpart of the Danish and Dutch model.

Tiergesundheitsagentur (Tiga), an organization created by the producers’ associations specifically for this role, will handle the rights of the new system. Tiga will document online the sanitary information collected from piglet suppliers (in 28 kg piglets), including data on PRRS, salmonella and dysentery. Optionally, the status for mycoplasma, APP and rhinitis can be certified as well.
