The aim of the document is to provide FVE opinion on the most relevant and critical aspects related to ante mortem and post mortem tasks and derogations to the Official Auxiliary (OA) in the slaughterhouse and meat establishments.

The main provisions of concern are laid down in art. 18 par. 7 and par. 8 of the Regulation EU N. 625/2017, which will be established by the tertiary legislation.

FVE is of the opinion that Competent Authorities and the Veterinary Services should continue to play a predominant role in defining how ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections are performed and on how the overall supervision of activities and management of non-compliances are carried out.
