According to the French agricultural statistics service (Agreste), during the first trimester of 2015, a total of 6,175,886 pigs were slaughtered. This entails an increase by 2.4% with respect to the same period in 2014.

The average weight at slaughter (carcass without head and legs) increased by 0.7%, going from 82.3 kg to 82.9 kg in the first three months of 2015.
