The prefecture of this department has slaughtered all the animals on the farm (an outdoor pig farm that includes two sites located in the municipalities of Pontiacq-Viellepinte and Lamayou).

As a result of this confirmation, the “Aujeszky’s disease-free” status of this department has been temporarily suspended until reaching a complete sanitation, and the movements of pigs outside of the department have been restricted.

According to the first results of the epidemiologic research, the contact with wild boars is suspected.
