According to the data published by the ABPA, it is expected that pork production in Brazil reaches 3,643 million tonnes this year: 4.9% more than during the same period last year, with 3,471 million tonnes.

Regarding the consumption per capita, it is expected that this year the figure of 15 kg is reached for the first time in history. This number is 2.7% higher than in 2014.

Next year, a growth by 2-3% in this sector is expected.

Exports will reach 550,000 tonnes: an increase by 8.9% in comparison with the 505,000 tonnes in 2014, with a value of 4.3 billion Brazilian reals: 14% more than in 2014, although in terms of USD a drop by 20% is expected (USD1.2 billion). According to Mr. Francisco Turra, CEO of the ABPA, "Last year, the acceleration of the sales to Western Europe lifted the sales figures, that reached a historic record. This year we have seen a readjustment of prices at levels similar to those of the previous years, and this explains the decrease in income.” 45% of the exports have been to Russia, with an increase in sales by 30% with respect to the same period in 2014.
