This is the first occurrence of PRRS in the country. The focus has been located on a commercial farm in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas.

The OIE has confirmed the presence of the PRRS in Ecuador. This is the first occurrence of this disease in the country.

The event occurred in a commercial farm for breeding and fattening pigs for slaughter located in Luz de América (Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas) with a total of 469 susceptible animals of wich 7 cases.

At the moment, the source of the focus is unknown and farms with an epidemiological link are being investigated. Surveillance is also being implemented in the outbreak area and in the areas around.
