According to Agreste, during the first trimester of 2016, the industrial production of feed has decreased by 4.2% in comparison with the same period in 2015. The drop in production has been especially pronounced in the case of the feeds for cattle and fowl, and to a lesser degree in the feeds for pigs.
In particular, the production of supplementary feeds for fattening pigs and sows grew by 0.9% and 2.5%, respectively, whilst the production of complete feeds has dropped by 1.1% and 5.1%, respectively. The decrease in prices of soybean meal and wheat since the beginning of 2016 has stimulated the use of feeds produced on the farms.
