Colombia and Canada reaffirm sanitary and phytosanitary agreements

During the first technical committee regarding the sanitary and phytosanitary measures between Colombia and Canada, the health authorities of both countries: the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Colombian Agriculture and Livestock Institute (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario, ICA), and the National Institute for the Surveillance of Drugs and Food (Instituto Nacional de Vigilancia de Medicamentos y Alimentos, INVIMA), established the rules and the procedures that will allow to make progress in an adequate and transparent way, in the processes of obtaining access to the markets for agricultural and farming products.

During the technical committee, punctual agreements were established in order to make progress in the importation of animals and genetic material of the swine and ovine species from Canada for the genetic improvement.
