China: more reserved pork released, prices declining

The decline in pig prices has driven down pork prices and consumers have benefited.

China released another 20,000 tons of central reserve pork on March 5. This is the ninth release during the year, and the accumulated central reserve meat will reach 190,000 tons.

Consumer prices are down as hog prices fall, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The average wholesale pork price was 48.49 yuan / kg on March 4.

According to the Information Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Area and Shandong Zhuochuang Information Co., Ltd., in the 9th week of 2020 (February 24-February 28, 2020), the average factory price of lean meat white strip pork was 48.75 yuan / kg, down 4.1% from the previous month.
