This recognition is the result of joint efforts between Mexico, the national meat industry, and the National Service for Agrifood Health, Safety, and Quality (SENASICA), and allows Mexican companies certified by the health authority to export meat products to Canada under the same safety standards that apply in the domestic market.

During the first quarter of 2025, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) conducted an audit of eight TIF establishments to verify the equivalence of the Mexican inspection system. Following the technical evaluation, it was concluded that the processes applied in Mexico guarantee the production of safe, reliable meat products that are labeled in accordance with Canadian health regulations.

This recognition not only ensures the continuity of exports from the 58 currently authorized TIF establishments, but also opens up the possibility for more Mexican meat plants to enter the Canadian market, which is considered one of the most demanding in the world.

The TIF system, which is a certification granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through SENASICA, ensures that establishments processing meat products in Mexico comply with strict health standards to guarantee product safety and quality. This network of plants supplies a large part of the domestic market and exports to more than 65 countries, cementing its position as a pillar of the Mexican meat industry.
