Bulgaria – New outbreak of FMD

143 cows tested positive for FMD are registered in a farm next to a village near the border with Turkey. It is a fenced farm in the forest where the animals are kept free, are most probably infected by wild animals. The farm is close to the village Kirovo, Sredets Municipality, announced from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.

It is a fenced farm in the forest where the animals are kept free, are most probably infected by wild animals. The farm is close to the village Kirovo, Sredets Municipality, announced from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.

Currently, there is no danger to animals in the region, as they had no contact with the farmed cows. There is no need the region to be put under quarantine All 143 cows will be killed, but the owner will be compensated, added from the BFSA.
