Brazil: the government stimulates the re-opening of meat companies

Mr Blairo Maggi has claimed that the MAPA is holding conversations with the Economic and Social Development National Bank (BNDES) regarding the possibility of funding.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supplies (MAPA) of Brazil is holding conversations with the Economic and Social Development National Bank (BNDES) regarding the possibility of refinancing the re-opening of meat companies closed in the last years, the Minister Mr. Blairo Maggi has claimed during a visit to the meat industry in Castro. “We are stimulating the reopening of meat companies. I have been told, not long ago, that two companies expect to reopen some plants in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Goiás. These are very important movements.”

Maggi also highlighted the actions of the MAPA regarding the foreign trade, and praised the union of the cooperatives Frísia, Castrolanda and Capal, that gave rise to the Alegra brand.
