Brazil breaks all-time record for pork exports in 2021

Brazil ended 2021 with a total of 1.13 million tons of pork exported, the highest figure ever achieved by Brazilian exporters in a single year.

In 2021, Brazilian pork exports (including fresh and processed) totaled 1.13 million tons, the highest figure achieved by Brazilian exporters in a single year, surpassing the former record of 1.02 million tons exported in 2020 by 11%. In value, exports reached US$ 2,641 million, a figure 16.4% higher than that achieved in 2020, with US$ 2,270 million.

In December 2021, exports in the sector totaled 89.7 thousand t (+7.3% compared to December 2020, with 83.6 thousand t). In value, they reached US$ 191.53 million (+0.9% compared to the last month of 2020, with US$ 189.88 million).

Pork sales to China, the main export destination in 2021, totaled 533.7 thousand t for the year, an increase of 3.9% compared to 2020. They are followed by Chile, with 61 thousand t (+39.2%); Vietnam, with 44.9 thousand t (+11.4%); Argentina, with 37.8 thousand t (+97.5%) and the Philippines with 33.4 thousand t (+321.5%).
