According to the Department of Trade and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), foreign agribusiness sales amounted to US$ 96.8 billion last year, representing 43.2% of Brazil's total exports. In 2018, agribusiness contributed 42.3% of the country's total exports.

Corn, meat and cotton stood out, leading agricultural exports. Corn saw a record volume of exports, with 43.25 million tons. The previous record was set in 2017, with 29.25 million tons of grain exported.

Meat

Foreign meat sales increased from US$ 14.68 billion in 2018 to US$ 16.52 billion in 2019, a 12.5% increase. The impact of African swine fever in several countries, mainly China, helped increase Brazilian meat exports.

Beef was the main meat exported by Brazil, with US$ 7.57 billion in foreign sales in 2019 (+15.6%), a historical record. The volume of beef exported was also a record, reaching 1.85 million tons.

Foreign sales of pork showed a 33% growth, reaching US$ 1.58 billion in exports. The volume of pork exports was a record 737,200 tons in 2019. One third of the volume exported in 2019 went to China (33.8%), putting Hong Kong in second place, with 22.1% of the volume exported by Brazil.
