Austria - Slight decrease in swine stocks

Swine stocks were recorded on the reference date of 1 December 2009 and yielded a total figure of 3 137 000 animals. This corresponds to a 0.5% decrease in stocks compared to the date of the last census in June 2009.

Swine stocks were recorded on the reference date of 1 December 2009 and yielded a total figure of 3 137 000 animals. This corresponds to a 0.5% decrease in stocks compared to the date of the last census in June 2009.

A significant decrease was observed within the stocks of piglets and young pigs, their numbers declined by 4.5% to 1 599 000 animals. The stock of fattening pigs rose during the same period by 5.5% to 1 244 000 animals while the stock of breeding sows decreased by 1.9% to 201 000 animals.
