Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, met yesterday with swine industry representatives. During the subsequent press conference he reported on the ministry's efforts regarding export certificates to third countries, highlighting that China, the country to which almost 42% of Spanish pork exports to third countries are destined, for more than 1.1 billion euros, accepts regionalization, meaning that it will only stop importing products originating from the province of Barcelona.
The minister emphasized that two-thirds of Spanish pork export certificates remain active and that his department is working to ensure that those that are restricted are lifted as quickly as possible.

So far ASF has been prevented from spreading to pig farms in Spain. It has only affected wild boar. The minister highlighted the deployment of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) in these containment efforts. One hundred and seventeen military personnel have been deployed, along with three decontamination stations, seven capture teams operating under biosecurity protocols, and a drone unit equipped with night vision for locating the animals, among other resources.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Interprofessional Organization of White Pigs (Interporc), which brings together the representative entities of the field of production, processing, marketing, and distribution; most of the Spanish swine production chain, and the National Association of Pig Producers (Anprogapor).
