The Free State of Saxony has lifted the core zone in the Meißen district defined for the control of African swine fever (ASF). No ASF cases have been officially detected in this zone since May 2022. The zone includes parts of the municipalities of Ebersbach, Lampertswalde, Radeburg, Schönfeld, and Thiendorf in the district of Meißen and the municipality of Laußnitz in the district of Bautzen.

With the removal of this zone, preventive measures for agriculture and citizens also cease to apply. The use of agricultural and forestry land in the core zone is once again permitted without a permit. However, the fences erected around the core zone to restrict the movement of the wild boar population will remain in place.
