Another pig carcass was found on the shore in Taiwan, in Kinmen County. Authorities responded, the carcass was burned and buried on the spot, and the surrounding area was disinfected. The carcass tested positive for African swine fever virus with the gene fragment sequence matching the ASF virus strain from mainland China. As Kinmen County (Taiwan) is very close to Fujian Province (China) and Xiamen City in Mainland China, and is close to the Jiulong River and other outlets to the sea, occasionally dead pigs have been found floating along the coast of Kinmen County with garbage. 333 reported recently on another carcass washed ashore.

Authorities were sent to the one pig farm within a 3 km radius where the pig was found and the those pigs were found to be in good health. To ensure the safety of the overall industry, the Council of Agriculture announced that the export of pigs and their products from Kinmen County to Taiwan and other outlying islands will be suspended for at least one week before the measure can be lifted.
