During the fifth stage of the vaccination campaign against Classical Swine Fever (CSF), 17,011 animals have been immunized in Alagoas, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Pig Breeders (ABCS). This stage, which began on October 30, continues until December 12, with vaccinators visiting properties and vaccinating the animals.

Alagoas is the first of the 11 states in the non-free zone to join the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock's (MAPA) pilot project. During the 4th stage, the state achieved the highest vaccination coverage of the campaign against CSF, with 138,519 animals vaccinated on more than 5,000 properties, while the initial target was 120,000 animals.

The fourth stage achieved very significant numbers compared to the others carried out in Alagoas. In the first stage, in 2021, 119,000 animals were vaccinated. In the second, 127,000, and in the third, 116,000 animals. The good results of the campaigns provide more security for farmers, who can produce knowing that the state is protecting their livestock and also the health of consumers.

The State Secretariat for Agriculture and Livestock (Seagri) emphasizes that for the state to achieve the status of a Classical Swine Fever-free zone, which could lead to the vaccine not being compulsory for the animals, it is important that all farmers join in. Immunization strengthens pig farming in Alagoas, guaranteeing the health of the animals and increasing productivity, as well as opening up markets for the sale of pork and products from the production chain.
