With its Be.Well concept, WEDA Dammann & Westerkamp has focused not only on animal welfare but also on economic efficiency and occupational safety. Accordingly, the Be.Well products of the Lower Saxony stable equipment supplier are increasingly used in organic animal husbandry also under these aspects. In this sense, the new WEDA Quick.Gate enables simultaneous mucking out of several outdoor runs in one pass.

Farrowing pens with straw

In farrowing pens on organic farms, for example, it is increasingly common to line the outside runs with straw. This can increase the amount of work for the farmer, because regular mucking out of the stalls is necessary – not least to reduce odour pollution.

Quick.Gate swivels on both sides

In order to minimize this effort and make it as ergonomic as possible, WEDA has developed the Quick.Gate, which has a unique mechanism: When opened, the barrier gate automatically lifts out of the straw onto the side concrete edge by means of special hinges – with the side of the Quick.Gate that can be swivelled on both sides being fixed to the barn. This allows it to be opened quickly and easily in two directions without having to remove the manure.

Conventional solutions disadvantageous

In solutions with retaining wire, the gates only lift out to one side. They can be lifted out independently by the sows. In addition, the wire rope cannot be attached anywhere – for example, if there is a window or an open wall with wind netting.

20 outdoor outlets cleaned in ten minutes

With Quick.Gate, on the other hand, a long corridor forms along the entire length of the barn. The farmer can muck out the corridor with a tractor from one end to the other in one go. The bottom line is that, depending on the size of the system, 20 outside runs, for example, can be cleaned in about ten minutes. With Quick.Gate, users save a lot of time and energy that can be used for other activities in their daily work.
