Exhibitors line-up to attend the new “EuroTier China” trade fair

EuroTier China will be the third EuroTier-branded event taking place for the first time in 2019. It will be preceded by “EuroTier South America” between 23rd and 25th July 2019 and “EuroTier Middle East” from 2nd to 4th September 2019.

The DLG (German Agricultural Society) and its local partner in China, the National Animal Husbandry Service (NAHS) have announced they have started taking exhibition stand bookings for the new “EuroTier China” exhibition. Being held at the Qingdao International Convention & Exhibition Centre, in eastern China’s Shandong province, from 19th to 21st September 2019, the new trade fair will be one of three new EuroTier-branded events to take place next year outside Germany, where the parent exhibition – EuroTier – is held.

The parties signed the agreement to cooperate on the organisation of EuroTier China in November at EuroTier, the leading trade fair for animal production, which attracts about 2,600 exhibitors and some 155,000 visitors. The new Chinese trade fair will benefit from the EuroTier brand, which offers a comprehensive overview of global topics and trends in modern animal husbandry in the pig, poultry and dairy sectors, and corresponding cross-species inputs such as feed.

“Many exhibitors that participated at EuroTier 2018 in Hanover expressed great satisfaction that we are creating EuroTier China,” said Saskia Zuleger, show director DLG International. “Initial reactions indicate that there is a need to showcase technical solutions locally. Products that will especially help Chinese farmers will be hand-picked and presented at EuroTier China,” added Zuleger.

The DLG’s monthly Agrifuture Insights survey – which gathers data from large-scale farmers in 13 countries – shows that Chinese farmers are enthusiastic investors in livestock technologies in the dairy and pig and sectors. The autumn 2018 results suggest that about a third of the farmers surveyed in China intended to invest in their businesses in the coming 12 months.

China is home to more than half the world’s pigs, so it is not surprising that the country’s pork producers showed above-average confidence, with 42 percent of them planning to invest. The Agrifuture Insights survey found their principle focus was on the modernisation of existing pig housing. Investment was also planned with the aim of achieving higher feed efficiency and increasing daily weight gains by using modern feeding technology, while there was a growing interest in innovations in technology for emission reduction and manure removal.

“The recent outbreak of African swine fever in China has prompted the government to put an urgent focus on establishing new and modern pig production sites in less densely populated areas in the north of the country,” said Jens Kremer, Director Business Development, DLG Exhibitions. “This will help make EuroTier China the perfect platform for manufacturers to showcase their products and demonstrate the advantages that the latest technologies can bring to farmers. And, of course, this will be supplemented with a comprehensive technical programme that will be tailored to regional topics by the DLG in cooperation with international and national partners.”

Yang Zhenhai, the Director General of the National Animal Husbandry Services (NAHS), said the Chinese market offered great potential for the EuroTier China trade fair. “It can present itself to a changing agricultural sector as the leading trade fair on questions relating to animal husbandry technology, increasing digitization and automation, and the sustainable use of resources,” he added. “However, it is also a source of information on the changing global expectations for the livestock industry, and will allow new business networks and an attractive trade platform to be opened up for exhibitors.”
