logoThe global pig sector is facing profound changes: increasing animal welfare requirements, digitalisation, societal expectations, and volatile markets require new skills and stronger international exchange. This is exactly where the agri benchmark Academy 2026 comes in. From June 1–4, 2026, young pig farmers, researchers, companies, and industry experts from around the world will gather in Seinäjoki, Finland, to discuss the future of pig production.

The Academy is an initiative of the international agri benchmark network and is specifically designed for the next generation of pig farming professionals. The focus lies on practical education, international competitiveness, animal welfare, sustainability, and data-driven decision making. The programme is complemented by farm visits, discussions with international experts, and extensive networking opportunities.

This year’s Academy will take place in the Finnish city of Seinäjoki, the heart of Finland’s food and agricultural industry. The region is regarded as one of the leading centres of the Nordic food sector and uniquely combines modern agriculture, research, and food production. With its strong focus on innovation and sustainable food systems, Seinäjoki offers ideal conditions for an international event of this kind.

The Academy is hosted by Atria, one of Northern Europe’s leading food companies. Internationally, Atria is recognised for its modern, transparent, and data-driven pork production value chain. During the Academy, participants will gain exclusive insights into Finnish production systems, management strategies, and approaches to animal welfare and digitalisation. The programme includes farm visits and discussions on sustainable and future-oriented pig production.

Finland is internationally regarded as a pioneer in pig production. The country combines some of the world’s highest animal welfare standards with exceptional productivity and animal health performance. The consistent focus on biosecurity, management quality, data utilisation, and herd health makes Finnish pig production an international benchmark model. This unique combination of animal welfare and economic efficiency is at the core of the Academy 2026.

A special highlight of the event is the public agri benchmark Global Forum on Pig Production on June 3, 2026. International speakers from science and practice will discuss current developments in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, data-driven management, modern livestock technologies, sustainability, and communication in pig production.

Participants can expect an intensive programme of expert presentations, discussions, farm visits, and networking with international industry representatives. The Academy combines scientific expertise with practical experience and creates a platform for international exchange on the future of pig farming.
