Pork CRC supported 4th year animal science honours student at Western Australia’s Murdoch University, Amy Lealiifano, has found that vaccinating boars for the second time with Improvac close to a fortnight before slaughter effectively controls boar taint, while also not blowing out fat levels.

Atria invests in pig farming in Russia

Atria Plc has signed a shareholders' agreement with the Danish company AS Dan Invest concerning pig production in Russia. Atria will have a 26 % stake in the Russian company OOO Dan Invest, which is the owner of two pig farms: one in Krasnodar and one in Tambov.

European Union - EU27 real agricultural income per worker down by 12.2%

EU27 real agricultural income per worker has decreased by 12.2% in 2009, following a decrease by 2.5% in 2008, according to first estimates issued by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities . This decline results from a reduction in real agricultural income (-14.2%), together with a fall in agricultural labour input (-2.2%).
