Canada - Government supports farmers by investing in animal health

The Government of Canada is investing up to $2 million to prevent and contain animal diseases. The funding for the Canadian Animal Health Coalition for the West Hawk Lake Zoning Initiative will help to monitor the movement of animals and agricultural products between eastern and western Canada.

China reopens to U.S. pork

China this afternoon gave notice that it is ready to accept imports of U.S. pork, following negotiations between Chinese and U.S. officials in March that led to an agreement in which China pledged to reopen its markets to U.S. pork. U.S. pork produced on or after May 1 can now be exported to China.

JSR: Lifetime sow performance - a key indicator of profit

JSR to build New Nucleus in China

JSR Genetics, the UK-based international pig breeding company, has agreed a joint venture to build and stock a state of the art Nucleus on a Greenfield site in China. The 900 sow Nucleus will be located in the Hubei province of China and is expected to be complete in December 2010. The deal, which includes the shipment of both dam lines and sire lines, reinforces JSR’s commitment to investing in Nucleus facilities within the target market.
