During the 92nd General Session of the Assembly of Delegates, the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) recognized Argentina's status as a country free of foot and mouth disease (FMD). The update recognizes two distinct zones: Patagonia, as free of FMD without vaccination, and the north-central part of the country, as free with vaccination.
The recognition took place after Senasa submitted the required sanitary and epidemiological information. As a result, WOAH recognized the unification of the northern border area of Argentina (free with vaccination) with the north-central area, under the denomination “Free of FMD with vaccination”.

WOAH president, Susana Pombo, and the general director, Emmanuelle Soubeyran, presented the Argentine delegation with the certificate accrediting this sanitary condition. Patagonia maintains its status of “FMD-free zone without vaccination."
