The volume of Brazilian pork exports is still falling

Between January and May 2017, the pork exports rose by 30% in terms of value, but dropped by 3.3% in terms of volume with respect to the same period in 2016.

According to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), between January and May 2017, the Brazilian fresh pork exports added up USD598.7 million (+30% in comparison with the same period in 2016). Nevertheless, in terms of volume, the exports reached 239.7 thousand tonnes: 3.3% less than in the same period in 2016.

In May, the Brazilian pork exports fell by 24.4% in terms of volume (41.7 thousand tonnes) and by 1% in terms of value (USD112.3 million) with respect to May 2016.
