The Colombian agricultural industry sees growth in first trimester

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) reported that in the first three months of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the agricultural sector grew by 6.8%, compared to the same period last year.

According to a report from DANE, the 6.8% growth of the agricultural sector in the first three months of 2020 is due to the results achieved in specific industries such as: fishing and aquaculture (31.5%); transitional, permanent, and other crops (8.6%); livestock (7.1%); and forestry and timber harvesting (2.6%).

Finally, Minister Zea Navarro stated that the added value of the sector reached $19.9 billion in the first trimester, representing a $1.3 billion increase with respect to the same period last year.
