Thailand's pig production is expected to reach 23.584 million head in 2025, an increase of 0.54% from 23.457 million head in 2024. This is due to the recovery from African swine fever (ASF), as pig farms have adapted to implement more secure biosecurity systems, leading to improved breeding sow efficiency and a higher number of fattened pigs entering the market. In 2026, pig production is projected to increase slightly to 23.642 million head.
Pork consumption is expected to reach 1,736 thousand tons in 2025, a decrease of 0.03% from 1,737 thousand tons in 2024. The majority of pork produced is for domestic consumption. Pork consumption is expected to remain stable in 2026. Government economic stimulus measures, along with cooperation from the public sector, private sector, and farmer organizations in promoting consumption, are positive factors contributing to increased domestic demand for pork.

In 2025, exports of chilled and frozen pork are expected to reach 2,400 tons with a value of 275 million baht, a decrease of 5.04% from 2,527 tons in 2024, while the value is projected to increase by 7.94% from 255 million baht. Major export markets include Hong Kong, Myanmar, and Laos. In 2025, processed pork exports are projected at 4,000 tons with a value of 940 million baht, a decrease of 13.64% and 11.05% respectively from 4,632 tons with a value of 1,057 million baht in 2024. Major export markets include Japan, Cambodia, Hong Kong, and Laos. In 2026, exports of live pigs, chilled and frozen pork, and processed pork are expected to increase slightly from 2025, as trading partners have confidence in the standards of Thai livestock products.
Pork imports in 2025 are expected to reach 320 tons, valued at 115 million baht, an increase of 16.60 percent and 17.44% respectively from 274 tons, valued at 97 million baht, in 2024. Imports will primarily come from European Union countries such as Spain, France, and Denmark. In 2025, imports of other edible parts of pigs (skin, liver, and other offal) are estimated at 15,000 tons, valued at 245 million baht, an increase of 35.97% and 51.88%, respectively, from 11,031 tons, valued at 161 million baht, in 2024. These imports are primarily from Spain. In 2026, imports of pork products and other edible parts of pigs are expected to be similar to those of 2025.
