The President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, and the Ambassador, José Han, were responsible for formalizing the agreement, after a meeting in which the ambassador delivered the official note signed by Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te granting the benefit of tariff elimination for the export of deboned fresh pork and frozen pork of Paraguayan origin.
This achievement represents a significant boost for Paraguayan exports, as it will allow the country's pork industry to access a key market in Asia, the world's largest consumer of pork.

The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Giménez, stressed that it will benefit around 30,000 small Paraguayan producers.
Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, emphasized that this measure is a turning point in the trade relationship with Taiwan. Previously, Paraguay had to pay a tariff of 12.5% for pork to enter the Taiwanese market.
Currently, Paraguay is Taiwan's third-largest pork supplier, but with the elimination of the tariff, the country expects to consolidate its position as Taiwan's leading supplier in the coming years.
With this measure, Paraguay takes an important step towards expanding its exports and strengthening its swine industry in the international market.
