According to initial estimates, income from the Swiss agricultural sector has fallen by 3.4% in 2010 compared with the previous year, after the 7.7% drop in 2009.

The main reasons are poorer harvests, the falling price of milk and the saturation of the pork market. The average fall in earnings per job is estimated at 1.1% as the number of persons employed in Swiss agriculture continues to decline. These findings are based on the economic accounts for agriculture compiled by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
