Spain: drop in pig meat production in 2013

Pig meat production fell by 0.77% in comparison with the previous year.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Spain has just published the provisional data about the number of pigs slaughtered during year 2013. According to the data, last year 41,439,217 pigs were slaughtered, and this corresponds to a drop by 0.37% with respect to year 2012.

With respect to meat production, a total of 3,439,466 tonnes were produced: a drop by 0.77% in comparison with the previous year (3,466,323 tonnes).
