Spain: 5% increase in pork production

Pork production during the first quarter of this year reached 960,906 tons.

The latest data published by the statistical service of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture surveys relating to slaughter for March showed an increase of 4.79% in the number of pigs slaughtered during the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, rising from 10,793,192 head from January to March 2011 to 11,310,210 in 2012.

Pork production during the first quarter of this year reached 960,906 tons, a 4.99% increase compared to the same period last year.
